For students who wish to take Cambridge exams, you can sit for exams in any Cambridge approved exams centre or in the British Council in your country of residence. Please note that your formal exams will be issued by Cambridge Assessment English, then sent to the exam centre where you will sit for the exams, after taking the exams the exam centre sends your exams’ answers to Cambridge in England to mark them and accordingly they issue your qualification and send it to the exam centre where you have taken your exams to hand it in to you

Our English Language Courses at a Glance


1 - Foundation level: this level consists of one course designed for students who have no background or experience in the English language. Students begin with this level as their first step in the English learning journey, it begins with learning how to read and write the English alphabets, how to write correctly on the lines, how to read and to pronounce words through phonetics. The course extends to learning the very basic English grammars rules, for example, thesent and past tense, and subject, object and possessive pronouns, in addition to structuring simple sentences and reading simple sentences. 2 - Beginner level: this level consists of two courses. It is designed for students who have the very basic knowledge of English language. In this course student learns a great amount of the basic rules of English language such as how to introduce himself/herself or other people, how to describe friends and relatives, how to describe directions and locations of specific places, that in addition to learning a fair amount of new vocabularies and simple sentences and their uses in some contexts.

3 - Elementary level: this level consists of two courses. It is designed for students who have a beginner knowledge of rules and structuring of sentences in English. Students will be introduced to the difference between the formal and informal writing, also students will learn some new phrases used in everyday life. In addition, students will study and exercise the rules of formulating different sort of questions and how to appropriately respond to reflect approval or rejection in a polite manner. Situations that the students will be walked through are not limited to shopping, traveling and tourism scenarios. 4- Pre-intermediate level: this level consists of two courses. In this level, students will learn how to ask and answer simple questions, will learn how to describe what they are looking for during shopping, how to express their opinions and needs, how to describe the beautiful places in the countries they visited or where they live in, and will be able to describe past events. Moreover, students will learn the basics on how to complete forms and write short letters to an acceptable and fair extent. By the end of this courses, the student is expected to be able to interact with native English-speakers if they speak slowly.

Upon the completion of studying this level, the students can register for their exams in any Cambridge approved exams centres or British Council in their country of residence to sit for Cambridge A2-KEY test. Successful students will be awarded their qualifications directly by Cambridge Assessment English and would benefit of its a global recognition. This qualification is equivalent to level A2 on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and achieving grade 92 or above on this qualification is equivalent to IELTS band 4.0. 5- Intermediate level: this level consists of two courses. This English level provides the students with the skills needed to describe past events, writing letters and emails about various contexts, taking minutes of business meetings and producing coherent textual report, in addition to enhancing their speaking skills in expressing their wishes and ambitions wish to accomplish.
The B1-Prelimnary qualification from Cambridge is equivalent to IELTS band 4.0 to 6.0 and to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) Level B1. Upon the completion of studying this level, the students can register for their exams in any Cambridge approved exams centres or British Council in their country of residence to sit for Cambridge B1-Preliminary test. Successful students will be awarded their qualifications directly by Cambridge Assessment English and would benefit of its a global recognition. 6- Upper-intermediate level: this level consists of two courses. The course focuses on writing formal letters, reports, stories of good quality, and on learning essential skills for face-to-face communications with other people to express opinions and make appropriate justifications on the advantages and disadvantages on various topics. By the end of this course, successful students are expected to have gained the ability to follow the news in English and understand it to a very good extent.

This level is equivalent to IELTS 5.0 to 7.0 and to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) Level B2. Upon the completion of studying this level, the students can register for their exams in any Cambridge approved exams centres or British Council in their country of residence to sit for Cambridge B1-Preliminary test. 7-Advanced level: this level consists of two courses. Students completing successfully this level will be able to communicate effectively in English at various contextual categories including social, administrative and professional levels.

By the end of this level, successful students are expected to have acquired the skills needed to express in English feelings and situations with a high level of fluency, will have gained the ability to analyse various types of formal and informal textual documents and accordingly draw conclusions out of them. Students studying this level will stand on a solid ground with their presentation skills, with conducting and attending meetings at the workplace, and in carrying out public interviews.
This level is equivalent to IELTS 6.5 to 7.5 and to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) Level C1. Upon the completion of studying this level, the students can register for their exams in any Cambridge approved exams centres or British Council in their country of residence to sit for Cambridge C1-Advanced test. Successful students will be awarded their qualifications directly by Cambridge Assessment English and would benefit of its a global recognition.

The Appropriate English Level to Start with From Our International Secondary School Courses 

With OBA School the language of teaching, books and examinations are all in English so the student must have an acceptable level in the English language. Students who wish to enroll in any course of our International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) or International Advanced Levels (IAL) should have a good level of reading, writing and understanding the English Language as a prerequisite.

The student’s English language level should be at least equivalent to the elementary level with respect to OBA school scale in the English language which can be measured by taking our English Proficiency Test by visiting our related web page by clicking here

Assessing Your Proficiency Level in the English Language

To assess your skills level in English, you can take our English Proficiency Tests which are comprised of three distinct levels as explained below:

1- English Proficiency Test Number 1
You can start from this test, if you score 80% or higher, you can go to our English proficiency test number 2. But if you score less than 80%, then the recommendation page will advise you on your current English proficiency level based on OBA’s scale and which of our English language courses is the most appropriate for you to start with. 2- English Proficiency Test Number 2
If you score 80% or higher, you can go to our English proficiency test number 2. But if you score less than 80%, then the recommendation page will advise you on your current English proficiency level based on OBA’s scale and which of our English language courses is the most appropriate for you to start with. 3- English Proficiency Test Number 3
